Gifts again, Italian readers help - [gerri blomquist]
Gifts for Italian hosts? For husband, wife and two daughters.
I received some ideas from an American site. What do you think Italian readers?
Possible gift suggestions --Native American (Indian) jewelry or crafts, Elway jersey, Rockies baseball cap, Vail or Aspen souvenirs, Chili mixes or other local foodstuff (I live in Colorado), peanut butter, local crafts, fresh maple syrup,electronics-CD player, portable battery operated tv,electronic organizer for addresse, phone numbers, schedules, anything that says New York on it, CD's, local wine, leatherman tool (sort of like a fancy swiss army knife, small digital camera, paper notebooks from local university (of Colorado), university or Aspen t-shirts, local calendar. Item needs to be small, but durable because I must carry it (them) for two weeks in my one suitcase.Would Italian readers enjoy any of these items? Any suggestions are welcomed.

well... - [Oblo]
well... it depends... I like very much maple siroup, the real one, the dark brown one. I think it would be a good idea to bring a bottle of it with you: it lasts and even a small amount it's enouugh for a big (italian) family ;-)
You may also bring with you some pan cake(it's this the way you spell it?) or the necessary things to make it, so to be able to offer a tipical (?) american breakfast.
Ciao

gifts for your hosts - [Laura]
Native American (Indian) jewelry or crafts: yes, for twe girls -- something with depth and meaning
Rockies baseball cap: -- nope -- baseball means almost nothing to us
Vail or Aspen souvenirs, Chili mixes or other local foodstuff (I live in Colorado:)-- yet -- if they have some class and taste to them -- you judge
peanut butter: absolutely not -- we just don't eat it
fresh maple syrup: yes, with a GOOD pancake mix and instructions to make them -- maybe one sunday morning you could make a special US breakfast for them...
electronics-CD player -- maybe for the girls,a portable one, with a few CDs of your choice-- depending on age of girls...
portable battery operated tv -- nope -- we don't usually have more than one TV at home
electronic organizer for addresse: maybe, for the grownps, only if they are professional and ttechnicallly inclined, or be prepared to teach them how to use them-- could be an interesting experience - otherwise forget it
You are very generous! They will appreciate your gifts, whatever they are. Also a picture book of Colorado would be good, I think, for the whole family, something with your dedication to display in the living room for the years to come...
Enjoy your trip.
