Day 1 We meet you at the Tashkent International Airport. Transfer to airport for local flight. Flight to Urgench (Khiva). Excursion in Khiva. Visit Ichan Kala, the inner fortress, Muhammad Aminkhan Madrassah and its minaret, Kunya Ark and Juma mosque with 218 wooden pillars, the Harem of Khiva Khans, mausoleum of Pakhlavan Makhmud, a famous ancient wrestler and poet who patronized Khiva. Also, you see Islam Khodja complex with a chance to climb up the 45m minaret and enjoy a breathtaking view of the evening Khiva at sunset from the top. (B) 3* Malika Khiva

Day 2 Drive to Bukhara via desert (490 km). You can see Amudariya river on route. Overnight in Bukhara. 3+* Omar Khayam or similar

Day 3

Sightseeing Bukhara. (B) Visit the old city, Ark fortress, Bolo Hauz mosque, Ismail Samani mausoleum, Chashma Ayub, Kalyan minaret, Trading Domes with all kinds of handicrafts, where carpets and jewelry are sold. You take pleasure of a lunch arranged in the comfortable setting of a private house in the old part of Bukhara. After lunch, you visit Maggoki Attori mosque, Lyabi Hauz square, Kukeldash Madrassah, Nadir Divan Begi Madrassah, and the Indian style Chor Minor of 19th century. Day 4

Day 5 Sightseeing Samarkand. Madrassah at Registan Square. Workshops in the Madrassah offer a variety of locally made handicrafts, of which musical instruments and carpets are made with exquisite taste. The artisans will tell you about Uzbek musical instruments and play charming old melodies. Then you visit Guri Amir, the mausoleum of Tamerlane, and a nice gallery of modern Uzbek paintings. Question: is it easy to go on foot from train stations to hotels? I would recommend you to use metro in Tashkent and taxi in other cities. Walking in December is not comfortable. It might snow.

I don't speak your language, I speak only english.... for a foreign tourist is it difficult to find hotels?The most people do not speak English at all. So it would be difficult to find hotels asking from people. You can better use Smartphones with installed Maps.

Tour itinerary:

 

Day 1: Arrival in Tashkent- Urgench

Arrive in Tashkent. You will be met by our driver and transferred to the hotel.

Meet your guide and driver and start sightseeing capital of Uzbekistan, the biggest city in Central Asia. Visit Old City part of Tashkent with Khast-Imom Complex where the world famous Quran of Caliph Uthman– Ottoman has been preserved. In Khast-Imom visit Madrasah of Barak-Khan, Tilla Sheikh Mosque, Mausoleum of the Saint Abu BakrKaffalShashi and the Islamic Institute of Imam al-Bukhari. Explore Chor-Su Bazaar. Then take a ride on Tashkent Metro to city center with Amir Temur Square, Independence Square and Applied Arts Museum.

At 18:30 transfer to train station. Take an overnight train to Urgench departing at 19:30, and arriving on the next day at 13:05(1093 km, 17 h. 35 min.). Overnight in the train.

Day 2: Urgench – Khiva 
Arrive in Urgench at 13:05, transfer to the hotel in Khiva (30 km, 35 min.). Enjoy free day in Khiva. Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 3: Khiva

Spend a day in UNESCO World Heritage site Ichan-Kala Fortress. Visit Mukhammad Amin Khan Madrasah, MukhammadRahimkhan Madrasah, Kalta Minor, Kunya-Ark, Juma Mosque, Toshkhovli Palace, PakhlavanMakhmud Mausoleum, Minaret of Islom-khodja. Free time in the afternoon.

Day 4: Khiva –Bukhara

In the morning depart Khiva and drive to Bukhara (480 km, 7-8 h.*). The Great Silk Road once routed through Bukhara and Khiva ran through the Kyzylkum Desert, as the present road does nowadays**. Stop en-route to enjoy views of the desert and Amudarya River. Arrive in Bukhara late in the afternoon, check in to the hotel. Time for rest.Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Bukhara
Enjoy a walking sightseeing tour with a guide in Old City. Visit LyabiHauz Ensemble, Magoki-Attori Mosque, Chor-Minor Madrasah, trade domes, Kalyan Minaret, KalyanMosque,Miri-Arab Madrasah, Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan madrasahs, Ark Fortress, Bolo-Khauz Mosque, Ismail Samani and Chashma-Ayub mausoleums. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Bukhara
Start the second day with a visit to Sitorai-Mokhikhosa – summer residence of Bukhara’s last emir, unique site combining Oriental and Russian architecture. Continue to BakhoutdinNaqshbandi Mausoleum and Chor-Bakr Necropolis. Enjoy free time in the afternoon. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Bukhara – Samarkand

At 07:30 transfer from hotel to train station. Take “Sharq” train to Samarkand departing at 08:40, arriving at 11:45 (270 km). Upon arrival you will be met by guide and driver to start city tour.

Visit spectacular Registan Square, remains of BibiKhahum Mosque, Siyob Bazaar and Gur Emir Mausoleum – authentic shrine of Tamerlane. Overnight at hotel.

Duration of sightseeing tour: 5-6 hours

 

Day 8: Samarkand – Tashkent

Check-out from the hotel till noon. Continue sightseeing: visit Shakhi-Zinda Necropolis, Ulugbek Observatory and Tomb of Saint Daniel. Then drive to KoniGhil village to explore traditional way of making Samarkand paper from mulberry. Enjoy free time with car and driver at your disposal after sightseeing tour. At 16:00 transfer to railway station.Take the fast-speed Afrosiyob train departing to Tashkent at 17:00 (300 km). Scheduled arrival time is 19:10. Pick-up and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Tashkent – departure

DAY 1. MILAN-TASHKENT

10.30 Upon arrival Start tour of Samarkand, the former capital of the Great Empire of Tamerlane: Gur-Emir mausoleum, Registan Square consisting of Ulugbek Madrasah, Sherdor Madrasah and Tillya-Kari Madrasah, Bibi-Khanum Mosque and Siyab bazaar and National Souvenirs Shopping Street, Amir Temur Statue and University Boulevard.

Depart to Bukhara, en-route visit Mausoleum of Imam Al Bukhariy, scholar and Sheikh, and Gizjduvan, one of the centers for ceramics in Central Asia, to learn more about local pottery and its unique colors.

DAY 6. BUKHARA

DAY 8. KHIVA – TASHKENT

City tour in the splendid historical part of Khiva – Ichan-Kala Complex.
