Eurail it's a train ticket for non European citizens that allows you to easily travel around Europe by train at very reduced costs. The newsgroup it is not very busy a bit too much advertising but you can still find a people to talk with. The topic it's clear from the title...

Quite a lively and varied group, you can find "technical" discussion about tents, camp fires etc. but also people that discuss about hikes, or travels they have done or they wish to do in the future. You can find here the wild and lonely camper type or nice families that loves outdoor holidays. Mainly American posts.

The German group dedicated to climbing, quite busy. These German climbers look very well informed and not just about German mountains!

The main newsgroup for divers, very busy and full of long of possibly interesting threads. By the way look more interesting the "subgroups" rec.scuba.locations and rec.scuba.equipment that divide and order the most interesting discussions you can find in the main newsgroup.
